Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK GAME DRIVE

Akagera national park is in north eastern Rwanda, at the country’s boarder with Tanzania. It is dominated by swamps and small lakes with river akagera flow.  A day in akagera national park safari offers the best African safari with hopes of viewing the big 5 of Africa and many other mammals in their natural environment.

Following breakfast, you will depart at 7:00Am to Akagera national park which takes about 3 hours depending on the stopovers. With the beautiful unwinding landscape en-route to the park, a driver guide will drive you to the park gate for a wildlife safari in the park. Your driver guide will pick a spot to have a picnic lunch. After game drive, you will take a 3-hour scenic drive to Kigali.

DAY 2; TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK

After your morning breakfast, you will be transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. you will have an experiential Canopy walk which is the most unique experience done in Rwanda’s Nyungwe National Park. You will walk on a suspended bridge 70m high above the great Nyungwe forest. This walk is on a 160 m long walkway that takes about 2 hours on this suspended bridge.

The ancient Nyungwe forest is home to numerous wild species including the endangered chimpanzees plus other 12 primate species that visitors can spot on their walk. This biodiverse rain forest is also known for its over 1000 unique tree species, 300 bird species, several amphibians, and reptile species, all of which add up to the uniqueness and richness of the forest, making your canopy walk experience. After you will come back to Kigali

DAY 3: BOATING AT KARONGI 

In The morning after breakfast you will have a journey heading to Karongi where you will visit the islands of Lake Kivu during a half-day guided boat tour in Karongi with a local guide. Lake Kivu is dotted with hundreds of islands. Most. islands have their history and special attractions. 

Start the tour meeting your guideand boarding a boat in Karongi. The tour starts by heading out toNapoleon Island, one of the largest islands outside Karongi. A shorthike will take you to the top of the island where you will have amagnificent view of the surrounding area and Karongi. NapoleonIsland is home to a colony of straw colored fruit bats. After visitingNapoleon Island you will continue to Monkey lsland. This island gotits name from the fact that there is a small group of monkeyinhabiting the densely forested island. After seeing the monkeys youwill continue to peace island. Peace island is perfect for swimmingand has a nice walking path all the way around. After you will comeback to Kigali

DAY 4; KIGALI CITY TOUR

 After breakfast this morning, you will have a city Tour where you’ll have an opportunity for a guided tour of the city, including a visit to the Genocide Memorial and Education Centre. This is a permanent memorial to those who were killed during the 1994 genocide. And after depending on your time we shall visit Kimironko market or any handcrafted shop where you may buy souvenir.

Day 5; DEPARTURE.

Set off from the hotel of residence and embark on your journey to Uganda. With Enroute lunch, Different stop overs can be made to enjoy and appreciate the beautiful terrain good for photography. A stop over at the Equator is rewarding. You will be dropped at your destination point.
